Birth Announcements

There is nothing more beautiful than welcoming a new baby into your life. Like many new parents, you’ll want to let everyone know about your newest arrival with some lovely birth announcements. Here are a few ideas for Pinterest-worthy baby announcement cards to send to all your friends and family.

Taking Perfect Pictures

There are a few different design options for birth announcements, but an absolute must is including pictures of your baby. It may be a splurge, but you may want to invest in a photographer to professionally capture your newest addition. If that’s outside your budget, you can always look up a few techniques to take quality photos on your phone. Plenty of photographers have blog posts with info on how to take great phone pictures. You don’t have to spend a bunch of money on newborn photos if you don’t want to. Once you’ve got your pictures, decide if you’d prefer to use a single shot or multiple images on your cards. It’s up to you, but knowing how many photos you want to use will make the process of ordering your cards much easier. Choose shots with good lighting that capture your baby’s face clearly. You can even choose pictures with your baby posed with your older children.

Colour Schemes

Pastels have long been a popular choice for all things baby-related, including announcement cards. Pretty light pinks with botanicals and florals for girls and soft blues with baby animals and ocean waves for boys are a couple of great, timeless options. Classic choices are always a good go-to if you’re not sure what card to get. Looking back in a scrapbook or memory book, you’ll always feel like your announcements are enduringly elegant. If you’d rather have a twist on something classic, go for out of the ordinary pastel colours like calming greens or light oranges. These types of colours would be a surprise to your family and friends, but a welcome one. It’s always nice to feel like people are making their announcement cards their own with special, out of the box, customizations. And unique customization on something as memorable as your birth announcement cards will be a way to help you remember this special time in your life for years to come.

Fonts and Layouts

Another option for your birth announcements is to use bold fonts. Instead of using pastel colours to get people’s attention, use large, eye-catching fonts on your cards. Introduce your newborn with all of the facts, including gender, height, weight, and date and time of birth. Or, print “Introducing” in large, ornate script with the baby’s name underneath. If you want to go simple and bold, have a big, understated font with the word “Hello,” and your child’s name. A third option is to choose a font you love and write your baby’s name on the card, with an accompanying photo. Any of these font-focused options will get your friend’s and family’s attention and are sure to impress. Some companies even offer foil printing on their cards, so you can add an extra touch of flair to your announcements. One company that offers foil printing on many of the designs is Basic Invite. All of their designs, from colours to fonts, are totally customizable, so you can make your cards look just how you want. Check out their unique birth announcements.

Despite the stress of bringing a new baby into the world, I hope you are able to take the time and send out beautiful newborn announcements. Whether you go for the simple, elegant floral pastels, or eye-catching fonts printed with foil, I’m sure your announcements will be perfect. Enjoy designing your cards, and congratulations.
